Peter McNamara is a man with passion, a passion for flying. He discovered this inherent bug when he was a young engine fitter in the Royal Australian Air Force but, like many others before and still today, he thought that flying was for the very wealthy and super intelligent.
He changed his mind when a friend of his started to learn and he realised one of the greatest ‘secrets of
success’ in life.
Peter’s enthusiasm for flying just didn’t stop there. He wanted to share his passion with others who may have thought the same as him. It took of course a great deal of hard work and determination to gain the necessary licences and approvals. This is where the ‘never ever give in’ attitude became his trade mark thought.
His first ambition, to fly for a living, was soon achieved with agricultural flying, crop dusting for farmers. This is seasonal which gave him time to teach others with the same obsession and determination to fly. That was five years ago and today Peter is sharing his zeal for flight with many others as he trains them in Bundaberg’s own aircraft, the Jabiru.
100 years ago a seventeen year old Bundabergian also had this same passion and went on to became one of the greatest aviators the world has seen. Again he had little education but Bert Hinkler, like Peter McNamara, had buckets of passion. If you think that flying is beyond your capabilities, spend a few minutes talking with Peter.
Take a drive out to Bundaberg or Kingaroy Airport and then if you get a buzz when you see a plane, if you like the roar of an aircraft engine and you want to fly like a bird, you had better talk to Peter. He has the remedy.
